What you need to sell online:

To sell your products or services on line you need 3 things.
1. You need a  merchant account - This is a bank account that enables you to accept credit cards.  This bank account also enables the credit card networks to route funds to you.  Your funds can also be sent from this merchant account to your local bank.
2. You need a secure processing gateway. The secure processing gateway replaces the swipe machine terminal found in traditional business. It allows real time transactions from your website and provides an online processing panel for processing manual transactions, credits, refunds, automatic re-billing, management reports, etc.. 
3. You need a website to collect and total orders, shipping, tax, etc. and post it to the secure processing gateway as well as send you the order. This is usually done with a shopping cart or order form.
