Live or "Real-Time" FrontPage Editing

This is page is designed for those who already have a site with FrontPage extensions installed on our system. If you are uploading a brand new Web site or if you always create your site offline, see:  How to Publish your web

You can edit your Web site and make changes "Live", while you're on the Net with FrontPage, however this method is NOT recomended.

When you first open the FrontPage Explorer, simply choose, "Open An Existing FrontPage Web". You will then be prompted to enter the location of the web you wish to open. Enter your Web address as shown below:

Click "List Webs". It may take a few moments for FrontPage to list your "root web". When your "root web" (or any additional 'web') is listed, you may click OK.

Now you will be prompted for your username and password. After entering your Login ID and Password, click OK (as seen below):

Again, it may take a few moments for FrontPage to display the next screen.

Lastly, you will see a screen which outlines your entire Web site, naming all of the .HTM files associated with your site (as seen below):

Now you may edit any page by simply double-clicking on the desired file name. If you want to add a page to your web that doesn't already exist, simply choose TOOLS and then, SHOW FrontPage EDITOR. From here, you can edit a new page and save it to your web.

When you have made the changes and are ready for the world to see your new page, simply click the "SAVE" button on the FrontPage Editor or hold down the "control" and "S" keys, and the page is automatically uploaded.
